SECOND TEST – AUSTRALIA v PAKISTAN
Australia were in a completely different class to Pakistan in the first Test at the GABBA and head into the Pink Ball Test at the Adelaide Oval on Friday as white hot favourites and deservedly so.
Warner and Labuschagne were responsible for piling on the lion’s share of the runs for the Aussies with their jumbo tons and the bowling outfit were more than capable of doing the rest from there.
It is hard to see the second test being anything but a carbon copy of the first to be honest.
At $1.23 there is not a lot of meat on the bone if you are looking to back the Aussies and I have turned my attention to the novelty markets to try and get some value.
Babar Azam shone like a beacon with the bat for Pakistan in their second innings delivering a classy century and I will be backing him to be the leading runscorer for the Pakistan first innings at $3.40.
Steve Smith had a rare failure in the first test and I would be surprised to see him miss out this time around. I am also backing him at $2.85 to be the leading runscorer for Australia and having something on him to win Man Of The Match honours which is paying $4.50.
The Perth Wildcats return to their home floor on Sunday when they play host to the Adelaide 36ers and this looks a nice match for the Wildcats to win big.
My season long strategy to back the Wildcats to cover the line and win big at home is in play with confidence for this match.
I am backing Perth to win by 7 points or more at $1.90 as my base bet with further bets on them to win by 10 or more at $2.30, 15 or more at $4, 20 or more at $7.50, 25 or more at $12 and right through to a little speck on the 29 points or more win at $21.
A small outlay could net us a lovely big return here and already twice this season we have won hefty sums for little spends with big blowout victories in favour of the home side.
The Perth Glory are on the road for their clash against the Melbourne Victory and both sides are in dire need of a victory after managing just one win apiece after 7 rounds of the season being completed.
The Glory were beaten 3-1 by Sydney FC last round while the Victory were also 3-1 losers to Adelaide United.
I am yet to be convinced by the Glory this season and until they start finding their best form I am happy to stay away from them on the punt.
My A-League multi for this week requires Brisbane and Adelaide to both win their matches this weekend which is paying $2.60.
My EPL multi for this week requires Wolverhampton, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City to all prevail this round. The multi quote is $3.47.
My best racing bets of the weekend are as follows :
Moonee Valley Saturday Race 4 Number 3 Mystyko (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $4.60) : Was having his second run back from a break last start when a close up second behind Viridine who is aiming up at the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Has an excellent record over this distance having had 10 tries for 3 wins and 5 placings and has won his only prior start here at Moonee Valley. Is at an each way quote and looks well placed.
Rosehilll Saturday Race 6 Number 12 House Of Cartier (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3.80) : Returned to the winner’s list last time out when victorious over 1850 metres in a Benchmark 88 event at Newcastle. Hit the line with gusto on that occasion and gets in nicely here with just 53 kilograms. Up to the 2000 metres here, a trip she has won over in the past. Should be right in the finish again.
Ascot Saturday Race 8 Number 10 Vital Silver (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $8.50) : Returns to WA after two cracking runs in Melbourne during the Spring, finishing 4th in the Gilgai behind Sunlight before producing a career best performance when runner-up behind Loving Gaby in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley. Returns to a track where he is unbeaten after 3 attempts, draws nicely in barrier 6 and has a strong record over this trip. Trekking looks hard to beat if he can run to his best but I am happy to have something on Vital Silver at great each way odds.
Sandown Friday Race 6 Number 8 Hooked On Scotch (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.00) : Australia’s greyhound of the moment after breaking the Sandown 515 metre track record last week in his heat of the Melbourne Cup. Draws the same box in 8 and quite simply with a clear run he has proven faster than any other dog in the country. Hard to oppose. West Aussie Campini has drawn favourably in box one and should fill a placing behind Hooked On Scotch. There is a $250,000 Quaddie Jackpot up for grabs and my Quaddie suggestion is as follows : 1 7 – 1 8 – 1 2 7 – 1 3 4 5 6 8. $14.40 will get you 20%.
Mandurah Friday Race 8 Number 8 West On Fergus (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price Not Available) : Slick beginner who has won his last 4 starts on the bounce and winning times have been impressive. Only up half a grade on his most recent win and has the early pace to cross this field and be the one to catch. Other nice bets on the program look to be 3-3 Squillionare, 6-7 Westdale Ares and 12-3 Dashing Tiger.
