In Friday Night Football all of the early money has been for Hawthorn with their price firming in from $1.82 into $1.67 while Sydney have drifted from $2 out to $2.25. I tend to agree with the punters and think the Hawks can cash in on their home ground advantage.
My multi for this week requires Melbourne to beat Gold Coast, Fremantle to beat Saint Kilda and the flying Richmond to win by 24 points or more. The multi price is $3.05. If you want to jack up the odds a little you can add Essendon and the Western Bulldogs to win which takes it up to $5.86.
From a novelty bets perspective I’ll be backing the following for First Goalscorers – Josh Kennedy at $6, Jesse Hogan at $9.50, David Mundy at $23 and Ben Brown at $8.
In NRL round 10 action I will take a multi with Penrith to beat Newcastle, New Zealand to beat Sydney and the Melbourne Storm to win by 12 points or more. The multi price is $4.58.
I am predicting another Golden State v Cleveland Grand Final series and accordingly will be backing the Warriors and Cavaliers in series winning betting to be successful in their semi-final playoff series. The multi quote is $2.11.
INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE CRICKET
I will take a multi this weekend in the IPL with the Chennai Super Kings to beat Rajasthan tonight and Kings X1 Punjab to defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday night. The multi is paying $3.30.
In tomorrow night’s match my novelty plays are Chris Gayle to top score for Punjab at $3.50, AJ Tye to be the top bowler for Punjab at $3.70 and Chris Lynn to top score for Kolkata at $3.50.
In this weekend’s UFC action I am taking a multi with Markus Perez, Lyoto Machida, Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Nunes to win their respective bouts. The multi price is $2.52.
The feature races of the weekend are at Doomben and Morphettville while Ascot hosts an 8 race program locally.
My best bets of the weekend are as follows :
Caulfield Saturday Race 6 Number 3 San Quan (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $4.40) In form galloper who has 3 wins and 2 seconds from his last 5 starts. Resumed when beaten less than a length behind William Thomas and that form reads up nicely for this event. Has won second up in the past and from barrier 5 should get a nice run in transit. Should be tough to stack.
- Caulfield Saturday Race 8 Number 2 Furrion (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $2.00) : Unbeaten son of Camelot who toyed with his rivals at his most recent start during the Warrnambool Carnival when strolling in to win by 2.5 lengths. Looks to be getting better with every run and on recent efforts looks to be a horse that will progress through to top grade. Can make it 4 in a row here.
- Scone Saturday Race 5 Number 1 Demerara (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $4): Top class filly who has had 8 starts for 5 wins and a placing. Last time out was beaten a narrow margin by the very talented Houtzen and despite the wide barrier has the class to overcome it. Has impressed me greatly in her career to date and with luck in running should be too good for these.
- Scone Saturday Race 8 Number 14 To Excess (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $5) : Consistent campaigner who has 2 wins and 4 placings from his last 6 outings. Enjoys going around over this distance where he has had 5 tries for 3 wins and 2 placings. Is in nicely with 53 kilograms and has drawn perfectly in barrier 5. Looks a great each way play.
- Ascot Saturday Race 8 Number 2 Pinzu (TABtouch Fixed Odds Price $3.70) : Has his hoof on the till after finishing runner-up at his last two starts here at Ascot. Looks to be building up to a victory and on paper this looks to be his opportunity. The 3 kilogram claim for Brodie Kirby may well prove the key to this event.
