This week’s TOP TIPS from Shortty.

This week’s TOP TIPS from Shortty.

SPORT

AFL
Reigning premiers Richmond remain the team to beat in 2018 after recording an impressive 26 point victory over the second placed Sydney Swans at Etihad Stadium overnight. Jack Riewoldt was superb for the Tigers while Lance Franklin and Josh Kennedy were both very good for the Swans.
Tonight the in form Geelong will start a short priced favourite for their
clash with the struggling Western Bulldogs. While the Dogs were just beaten by the Kangaroos last week they suffered more key injuries and on form you would expect the Cats to be far too strong. I am leaning towards the Cats to cover the line and win by 33 points or more.

My multi for this week needs Geelong to win by 16 points or more, Port
Adelaide to win by 25 points or more, Collingwood to win by 16 or more,
Melbourne to win by 25 or more and Fremantle to win. The multi quote is $4. If you’d like to go for a bigger dividend you can add the well-backed
Adelaide & GWS which takes the price to $10.19.

In my personal First Goal Scorer Bets this week you will find Robbie Gray at $7, Josh Jenkins at $10, Jonathan Patton at $10, Ben Brown at $7.50 and Michael Walters at $9.

  • WORLD CUP
It has been an action packed World Cup to date with a host of the
pre-tournament fancies struggling to find their best form.

We are down to the Round of 16 and there are some interesting matchups to look forward to over the next few nights.

My multi for the week ahead needs Spain to beat Russia, Belgium to beat
Japan and England to defeat Colombia. The multi is paying $4.61.

    NRL
In the NRL this weekend I’ll take a multi with Penrith, Brisbane and Wests to prevail. It is paying $3.14.

    WIMBLEDON
I’ll have two long range bets for Wimbledon and back Roger Federer and Petra Kvitova to win the Men’s and Women’s finals.

Federer is paying $2.85 while Kvitova is at $5.50. I’m also inclined to have a saver on Serena Williams in the Women’s at $7 – if she can recapture her best form she’ll be hard to stop.

    RACING
A great day of racing to look forward to on Saturday with the Strickland
Stakes at Belmont the feature event.

Here are my Best Bets :

Caulfield 5-7 Rilito (TABtouch Fixed Price $2.75) : Winner at 4 of 9 and resumed from a long break when flashing home for a close-up second at Moonee Valley last start. Smart type and should benefit greatly for that first up run. Should be swallowing them up late in the piece.

Morphetville 7-12 Rat With Goldtooth (TABtouch Fixed Price $2.65) : Handy mare who is bursting to win a race after finishing runner-up at her last 3 starts. Last start at Sandown was beaten narrowly by Al Galayel and there was a 4.5 length gap back to third. This looks easier and deserves a win here.

Belmont 2-2 Danny George (TABtouch Fixed Price $2.80) : Talented 3 Year Old who has won 3 of his 4 lifetime starts and at his first run back from a break was successful here over 1000 metres. Is 2 for 2 over this trip and looks well placed again.

Belmont 3-2 Disruptive (TABtouch Fixed Price ($2.60) : In-form galloper who has resumed from a break in fine style winning both runs at Pinjarra and Belmont over 1000 metres and 1200 metres. Makes his own luck on top of the speed and will take some running down in this event.

Cannington Friday 3-6 Carmalee (No Fixed Price Available) : Ran a slick 21.86 when tasting success at it’s last start and a similar effort would see it in the winners list again. It looks a dog to follow heading forward. I’ll take it in an all-up win with race 6 number 8 West On Hawkeye who should prove far too strong.
